Why fashion on film lacks style – “As a film on Isabella Blow is planned, Geoffrey Macnab argues that
haute couture and cinema are more likely to clash than complement.” Pe The Independent. Damn, tocmai mi-am adus aminte ca vroiam sa caut filmul despre Halston si Annie Leibovitz…
Britain’s got fashion talent – “Showing for Graduate Fashion Week… this is much more than a callow crop of students showcasing their sartorial juvenilia – this is the world’s largest showcase of graduate fashion.” Pe Times UK.
The designer from Nepal who cracked New York – “Demi Moore has tweeted his praises, Rachel Weisz appeared on the red carpet wearing one of his dresses, and the hugely influential editor of
American Vogue, Anna Wintour, has given him her backing.” Frumoasa poveste de succes, pe AFP
Fashion statements of all kinds - despre inghetate si colectia Stellei McCartney, pe NY Times.
When a shop assistant says you look fabulous, you should never believe her - damn right! Interesant insa acest paragraf, parca descrie o parte din vanzatoarele romance: “in the past few years, the UK seems to have changed from being a nation of shopkeepers that could barely be bothered to stop gossiping with their friends to acknowledge your presence, into a terrifying army of highly trained sales ninjas who will say and do anything to try to part you from your money.”
This week I’m wearing: tribal prints – “Big and monochrome are pretty much allit takes to qualify as tribal these days. That’s a good thing.” Pe Times UK.
Taking the high cost out of Haute Couture – “In the spirit of the Jil Sander/Uniqlo collaboration — but at a middle-market price point — Mr. Theyskens is taking to Main Street an aesthetic that has formerly been seen at the Paris houses Nina Ricci and Rochas.” In NY Times
Full luxury recovery still fuzzy – “The world’s wealthiest consumers kept their taste for expensive goods through a global downturn, but their more middle-class compatriots still striving for the good life may take years to return, if ever.” Pe Reuters
Hubert de Givenchy: It was always my dream to be a dress designer – “Hubert de Givenchy is one of the last great masters of haute couture. In a rare interview, he tells Carola Long about craftsmanship – and his muse, Audrey Hepburn.” In The Independent
