Design si stil: nu doar interioare (IV)

Colours of the World, My outfit choices No Comments

If you’re fond of sand dunes and salty air,
quaint little villages here and there,
you’re sure to fall in love with Old Cape Co

Winding roads that seem to beckon you.
Miles of green beneath the skies of blue.
Church bells chimin’ on a sunday morn’
remind you of the town where you were born.

If you spend an evening you’ll want to stay,
watching the moonlight on Old Cape Cod bay.
You’re sure to fall in love with Old Cape Cod.

Lectura de sambata dimineata

Lazy week-end reading 10 Comments

What men and women are doing on Facebook – asta pentru ca mi-am facut si eu pagina personala, iar articolul din Forbes mi-a atras atentia.

Why does this pair of pants cost $550? – in NY Times, care scrie ca “even in a season when designers made no secret about reining in prices… it is still possible to walk into a store and wonder what exactly they were thinking when a pair of khaki cotton pants… can cost as much as an iPad.”

The American woman: then and now – interesanta trecerea in revista de pe WWD, care lanseaza un subiect de conversatie, pe marginea noii expozitii de la Met: care femeie reprezinta noul ideal american? Michelle Obama, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sandra Bullock?

MCQueen investigation closed“Depression, anxiety, and work pressure all contributed to the suicide in February of Lee Alexander McQueen”, scrie tot WWD.

Author Linda Grant on why clothes matter – tocmai ce am terminat de citit “Rochia cea noua” (titlul original este “The Clothes on Their Back”), ca gasesc acest articol cu ea, despre nou-aparuta ei carte, tot in WWD. “It may well be people are spending less, they’re buying cheaper, they may be only looking…,[But] I think it is an ingrained human urge…if the women of Britain didn’t lose interest in fashion during the war, it’s just not going to happen now.”

The elegant sari as “the ultimate garment” – la inceputul lui mai, saptamana modei indiene se muta la Londra pentru cateva zile, in perfecta sincronicitate cu inspiratia orientala a multor colectii. Ca vorb-aceea: sari, kaftane, salvari, batik… Frumos articol pe Financial Times.

The problem with being a trendsetter – “copycat fashions move faster than ever, making it harder to protect original ideas.” Lectii pe Wall Street Journal.

Survival of the finest – pe masura ce casele de moda investesc din ce in ce mai mult in ready-to-wear, suntem martorii cantecului de lebada al modei couture si al segmentului luxury?  Tot pe Wall Street Journal.

Carrie’s teen exploits left me cold – cu SATC, povestea merge mai departe, vorba cantecului, dar deja parca merge prea departe. In paralel cu SATC 2, Liz Jones scrie pentru Daily Mail despre nou-lansata carte, “The Carrie Diaries”.
